Using Cine Phase Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging to Measuretibial Translation in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Deficient Knees

چکیده
INTRODUCTION: It is well understood that disruption of the knee’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) increases joint laxity in the anterior-posterior (AP) direction. However, the extent to which abnormal tibiofemoral translation occurs during activity remains unclear. Since pathological joint motion has been postulated as a contributor to changes in articular cartilage which may lead to osteoarthritis, determination of tibiofemoral translation during activity in ACL deficient patients is clearly of interest. The objective of the current study is to determine whether differences in anterior-posterior joint translations are observed between the normal and uninjured knees of ACL deficient patients as they perform a closely controlled experimental task.

Fluoroscopic analysis of anterior tibial translation during eccentric and concentric phase of knee rehabilitation exercises in men with anterior cruciate ligament injury
Background: The amount of anterior tibial translation during rehabilitation exercises is a key factor in organizing exercise regimen after anterior cruciate ligament injury. Excessive anterior tibial translation could increase the magnitude of tension imposed on injured and reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament knees. Forward lunge and open-kinetic knee extension exercises are commonly used ...

Kinematics measured during a short arc quadriceps knee extension exercise were compared in the knees of functionally unstable ACL-deficient patients, these patients' uninjured knees, and uninjured control subjects' knees. Cine phase contrast dynamic magnetic resonance imaging, in combination with a model-based tracking algorithm developed by the authors, was used to measure tibiofemoral kinemat...
متن کاملNew sonographically-guided test for anterior knee instability – preliminary report
AIM OF THE STUDY Ultrasound examination is widely used in orthopedic diagnostics, however sonographic evaluation of traumatic anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency is still inadequate. Aim of this study is to evaluate diagnostic capability of a new sonographically-guided test for diagnosing complete anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency. MATERIAL AND METHODS In 47 patients, with suspici...

An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury may be diagnosed by clinical examination and radiological investigation using magnetic resonance imaging or by arthroscopy. 1,2 Based on our experience, the ACL tear in concomitant chronic ACL and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) deficient knees may produce knee laxity, which is more difficult to assess on clinical examination, which in turn may affec...
